Fever 1793

As we continue reading Fever 1793, I would like you to think of these questions:

1) Mattie's grandfather didn't think there was any need to rush out of Philadelphia when the fever started to spread.  Why did some people think it was safe to stay?  What would you have done?


2) At the end of chapter 8, a man dumped the body of woman off at the side of the road.  Mattie yelled, "Mother!"  Who do you think this woman is and what do you think happened to her?

I think it could be her mother that got dunped on the side of the road or she could be calling her mom to tell her to show her mom what the person did

2)I think it was Mattie's mother b/c she screamed "Mother!" and i think the person dumped her there b/c that was her home. I think she died from the fever.

I think the woman is mattie's mother because she prabablly would know what her mother looks like.She got the yellow ferver because she might have been by the river buying stuff

1) I think they stayed because some satyed safe, and away from the virus. But me, I would of gone away because than I have a better chance of not gettting the virus if i went really far away. Or I would of stayed far away from everyone.

1: because there are like 40 billon people in philadelphiawere there the feaver is and they thing that the chance of them get the feaver slim, I would have left were the feaver had started so I would safe

i think the reasion that some people dident leave is because they might think that they wont get it or that its not that contagous and if u stay inside or stay away frome people that are contagous. i would of left because i wouldent want to pass away but it could also every ware els but i would take a chance to leave.

#1. I would have left the town because i wouldnt have wanted to get the fever.. I think some people thought it would be safe because they heard that it wasnt where they were living.. the fever was down by the river.. #2. I think the woman died of the fever and Mattie yelled "Mother" because she wanted her and her mother to go and see what had happend..

2: it was her mother so she just had a twist in the story that was I did not see it coming, her mother died from the feaver

I think she was calling her mother to come look because if the mother died I would not read such a book! Oh, and the woman has the fever.

1)The people wanted to stay away from the city because the people thought the fever was in the city. the people started to leavethe city and the shop was running down because the people left the city.

2)The women in the side of the road was Matties mom.I think Matties mom caught the Yellow fever and died.

I think some people thought it was safe to stay because it might not have been where they were living. If it were me I would have left the area to go far away, so I wouldn't get the fever and die.

I liked fever 1793 becuase it used real events like yellow fever but with fictional characters.I liked class read aloud because I dont really like to read by my self. I dont want to change anything becuase it was a great book and the read aloud let me only listen and relax.
